CARE
“We cannot feed the city of Seattle while breaking people in Yakima Valley”
- Roland CM, WashMasks volunteer
Our first action was gathering masks for farmworkers and their families in Mount Vernon, WA in April 2020. We partnered with migrant educators and middle schoolers of LUCHA Club. Over 43,000 masks later— we have gathered and distributed cultural food pantry items, winter clothing, school supplies, heat stress prevention supplies, and more. These efforts are done either at direct request or in collaboration with the farmworking and rural migrant communities. We believe that they understand their needs best. Our biggest yearly campaigns are Heart of Washington (fall-early winter) and Heat Stress Prevention (spring-early summer).
Whether you join us for one day or one season, we invite you to join us. Learn more about our current actions or volunteering via Current Projects page or our linktr.ee.
Heart of Washington
Washington's phenomenal farm workers are behind nearly all we eat and drink. They are the hands that make that our favorite rainy-day soup or chilled drink on a hot afternoon possible. We gather cultural food, household goods, and winter clothing through the fall to be delivered in early December as active gratitude to those who feed us.

Heat Stress Prevention
Even in the Pacific Northwest, the summers temperatures are rising every year. The rising heat increases the risk of heat stress, especially for those who work outside. Farmworkers’ risk of exposure to heat stress is twenty times higher than the average U.S. worker. Heat stress can cause dizziness, stroke, and even death. Our heat stress prevention work consists of gathering heat stress prevention supplies, educating our communities on how to respond to heat stress, and advocating for better workplace protections in response to climate change.
No one should die from picking our food.
